Hair Transplant Surgery
FUE (Follicular Unit Extraction) : Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) represents the latest evolution in field of hair restoration surgery. This procedure is based on use of surgical microscopes to extract hair follicles one by one from the donor area, which mostly is the back of your head but may be beard, chest, armpit, back, abdomen or even limbs. The method involves removal of follicular units containing one to four hairs with specialised punches which are mounted on micro motor hand pieces. The procedure is performed after numbing the donor area with a regional block. There is no incision and hence no linear scar. The units are extracted in a discontinuous manner and hence the scar too is discontinuous and localised to the area of extracted follicular unit. It becomes well concealed when the remaining hairs grow up. The popular misconception is that FUE Is scarless. FUE is stitch less but not scar less. The scarring is evenly present over the entire donor area and hence is not visible unless the hair are trimmed too short. Dr.Ateesh Borole and Dr.ManpreetJuneja both being reconstructive micro surgeons by training are well conversant with use if high optical magnifications of up to 6.5x for FUE. Working at these magnifications minimises the chances of follicular damage and ensures best possible result. Both being trained plastic surgeons have an in-depth understanding of facial aesthetics and the gentlest tissue handling capabilities. This ensures minimal damage to follicular units all thru the procedure and post operatively too. The wound healing process is best understood by a plastic surgeon and adequate precautions are taken at phi cosmetic clinics for perfectly natural looking result at both transplanted as well as the donor site. At Phi we view each hair transplant as a unique case and take care to implant the follicles in natural direction as per the area in questions and vary the density as in natural scalp so as to achieve a natural looking hairline.
FUT) Follicular Unit Transplants:Popularly known as “strip surgery” thisinvolves excision of a strip of scalp from the permanent donor area of the scalp. The resulting wound is closed using sutures and staples. The excised strip is converted to follicular units in a two stage microscopic dissection process and then individual units are then transplanted into the recipient area as per the natural density and direction for that particular patient. FUT is a gold standard in Hair restoration surgery and offers best chance of high density results. The scar is linear and is well concealed in the hairstyle. After thorough evaluation our plastic surgeons will advise you whether you are a candidate for the strip surgery or a FUE procedure or a mix of both.
